Day 1: Gondar – Debark – Sankaber Camp

Early morning drive from Gondar to Debark to arrange park permits, scout, and guide. Continue into the Simien Mountains and either drive directly to Sankaber or begin a scenic introductory hike from Buyit Ras. Enjoy sweeping escarpment views and your first encounters with Gelada baboons before settling into your first campsite at Sankaber.

Day 2: Sankaber – Geech Camp

Trek along the dramatic escarpment ridge with breathtaking views over valleys plunging nearly 800 meters below. Descend into the Jinbar Valley to witness the Jinbar Waterfall cascading into the Geech Abyss, then continue to Geech village and campsite surrounded by alpine scenery.

Day 3: Geech – Imet Gogo – Siha Gorge – Keda Dit – Geech

Hike across highland plateaus dotted with Giant Lobelia plants to reach Imet Gogo (3,926m), offering one of the finest 360-degree panoramas in the Simien Mountains. After lunch in Siha Gorge, return to Geech with an optional sunset walk to Keda Dit for unforgettable evening views.

Day 4: Geech – Innatye – Chennek Camp

A full trekking day through forests of Giant Heather and open ridgelines. Descend and climb toward the dramatic Innatye viewpoint—known locally as “Mama Mia” for its sheer vertical drop. Continue to Chennek, a wildlife-rich area famous for Walia ibex and Gelada baboons.

Day 5: Chennek – Bawhit Pass – Sona Camp

Cross the highest point of the trek at Bawhit Pass (4,200m), one of the best locations to spot the elusive Ethiopian wolf. Descend into the lowlands via Arkwaisye village, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony before continuing to Sona camp.

Day 6: Sona – Incya Valley – Mekareba Camp

Descend into the Incya Valley and follow the river into the lowlands. After lunch by the river, enjoy time to relax or swim before hiking along the riverbanks to Mekareba campsite.

Day 7: Mekareba – Awazza – Mulet Camp

Walk along the Incya River, a birdwatcher’s paradise with abundant endemic and migratory species. After a refreshing stop at Derkwenth Pool, climb toward Awazza village and admire the striking Awazza Table Mountain before reaching Mulet, your final campsite.

Day 8: Mulet – Adi Arkaye – Gondar

Morning walk to Adi Arkaye where your vehicle awaits for the scenic drive back to Gondar, marking the end of your Simien Mountains trekking adventure.
